At Notre Dame, he was appointed as the Massman-Beavers Professor in Heavy Civil Engineering. 

At Purdue, he was appointed as the Edward M. Curtis Visiting Professor in Civil Engineering. 

Other academic appointments include, 

  Visiting Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, 

  Tenured Professor and then stepped down to Adjunct Professor at the Universidad de los Andes (associate), 

  Director of the Structures and Materials Laboratory. 

  He has lectured extensively in Europe and South America.
